Now is the Right Time to Start Your Business

By Dan Gazaway

There has never been a better time to start your own business. In fact, I believe if you dont start something on your own now, you will simply be left in the dust. Financial freedom is for those who have their own businesses. Working for someone else is unpredictable and there is no guarantee you will have a job tomorrow. Take it from me. I am in my early thirties and have been laid off 4 times; every business that I have been involved in has gone out of business or enjoys their annual pre-Christmas lay offs. Here are a few simple suggestions of how to start your own business.

Start Something: One thing I am not suggesting in this article is for you to quit your day job yet. Be smart and start something on the side that you are passionate about. My very first real business is The Pitching Academy. I started that business because very early in my professional sales career I became very bored of not being able to share all of my creativity and felt my abilities were limited by other peoples choices. They werent bad choices, they were just not my decisions. One day I asked myself, what talents do I have that people would benefit from and pay money for. You need to ask yourself that very question, you may be surprised at what you come up with.

Start an online business: There are so many options there; that is what confuses many people because they dont know where to start. Take the advice of my first tip and just get started. You wont know everything when you buy your domain name. You may not even know how to buy one. The fact is, do your research and just start something. You cannot make money on the internet just by offering a product or service without the right traffic. However, you need to at least get started and then take the next steps and learn how to drive appropriate traffic to your site.

Opportunity Knocks: About 5 years ago one of my mentors gave me an assignment to walk out of my front door and think of a business I could start in my very neighborhood. He said if I thought hard enough I would be able to create a profitable business and I would be impressed at what money making opportunities I would find right outside my door. The day after that exercise I knocked on doors and installed peep holes in my neighbors doors for $15 a door. I made $200 that night. Even though I would never do that for a living, I knew at that point that money is easy to come by if you put your mind to it.

There are many opportunities for you to create a life of abundance. Although you will experience many failures along the way, never give up. Eventually you will create a very profitable business for yourself. - 22871
