Is Your Blog A Cash Flow Center Or A Sentimental Money Pit ?

By Trevor Weir

What is a Blog? Well, you might be reading this now from either a blog or an article directory, so that might give you a clue. A Blog ( sometimes called a Web Blog ) is an online commentary that is maintained and updated on a regular basis using a content management system that takes the html coding and complexity away from the author.

Canada's Globe and Mail reported in 2008, that for the first time over 1.5 Billion people had access to the internet. Thanks to the ease with which Bloggers can now attempt to monetize their blogs, you can bet that hundreds of thousands of bloggers are trying to do exactly this. But how really is it done?

People who have something to say, a thought to share or an idea to display can now post them online for the entire world to see, admire or critique. And next to email and reading other people's experiences, one of the most popular past times on the internet has become blogging.

It would be difficult to not have heard about blogging. With 10 million part timers and a few well known bloggers like John Chow earning tens of thousands monthly, one would truly have had to bury one's head in the sand to have not heard about this phenomena.

Thousands of non-technical people are joining the blogging arena on a hourly basis. The ease of entry and ability to be listened to is encouraging the masses.

Like the internet, the growth of Blogging has started to influence many aspects of society. In part because of the many and varied peoples from different walks of life who have taken in the Blog as a part of their lives.

Recently, there has been a smoky underground rumor about a few hardy guys making an absolute killing fiscally from their blogs. 2 online marketers with different blogging styles, Y Silver and Ben are rumoured to be in the 7 to 8 figure range in terms of revenue.

The truth is, there is quite a small group of people who have become so very successful with their online blogging that it has become their full time job earning money enough to support themselves and even beyond that. But for every 1000 that try, I would guess that there are 998, whom have less than stellar stories regarding their online earnings.

Those who have monetized their blogs have done so in a few well defined ways. We are going to list a few of them, but by no means should you think that this is the only formula of success. Some ways in which others are monetizing their blogs involves... Banner Advertising Donations Selling their blogs Primary Sponsors Affiliate programs such as Amazon,Clickbank

Blogging has come a very long way and the myriad ways of making money from them grows at an ever exponential pace.
