How to Cash Out Cleaning Gutters in your Spare Time.

By Spence Arnold

Did you know cleaning gutters is an easy business you could start in your spare time that can help you pay your bills? The required start up capital is very small and there is almost an immediate pay off to this business. You can make as much as $300 a day selling gutter cleaning and a few other services to your friends and neighbors. If you hire one or two helpers, you could make as much as $500 dollars a day.

Peak seasons vary throughout the country but generally the best seasons are Fall and Spring. This is because the Fall brings you leaves and the Spring brings you lots of rain.

In starting this business. I usually prefer the direct approach to getting customers. The first step is to find a good area. When you knock doors say, "I am doing some work for your neighbors cleaning gutters and I was wondering if you have had the chance to clean your gutter yet this year?" Most often people will say no. Then you can ask them if they would like a free estimate. Most of my estimates are $79 to $149 dollars.

If you are afraid of face to face interactions with people, you may also want to run fliers. Depending on your area, how good your flyers are, and what time of year it is, you should plan on getting between 2 and 10 jobs for every 500 flyers you put out.

The best neighborhoods are middle to upper middle class. These people often have two income households and little extra time form cleaning gutters. If you do a good job and charge a fair price, you may be able to quickly build up a list of permanent customers!

This is a cold, dirty, and some time dangerous job. The more it rains, the busier you will get. Whether you do it on weekends only or full-time, it is a great way to make extra money and help keep the lights on. - 22871
